The pieces I make are intended for the human hand and the desire in our souls for intimate touch and for meaning. If one of my pieces, in daily use brings a sense of well-being and joy to the user, it is a success to me. My fondest hope is that through the use of my pots a person will be touched, slow down a bit and experience the joy of the maker and find intrinsic beauty in that work.

For the last 16 years I have been firing my Soulgama Anagama in Brush Prairie, Washington. Donovan Palmquist built the kiln with the help of my student crew from Mt. Hood Community College. A lot of beautiful work has come out of that kiln. I always loved the images Warren placed on the walls of the pottery studio in the Holman building at the University of Minnesota. Those beautiful historical pots fueled my work for a lifetime.
